Agnese Dzjamko Releases Debut Album “Stāsti par debess ķermeņiem”

Musician Agnese Dzjamko has released her debut album “Stories About Celestial Bodies.” The album consists of Agnese’s personal experiences and situations where she always perceives the vertical (spiritual) dimension of life.

“Stories About Celestial Bodies” includes nine tracks, each symbolizing a celestial body—the eight planets of the Solar System and the Moon. “Each song is like a separate planet with its own gravitational field, frequencies, and keys that influence life on Earth every second,” Agnese explains.

The first sketches of the songs were created by Agnese over seven years ago, followed by a period of musical pause. However, in the autumn of 2022, Agnese returned to music and decided to learn music production. Nearly all songs on the album are self-produced, while mixing and mastering were entrusted to Armands Varslavāns.

Agnese describes the album as a living and natural woman—sometimes quiet, sometimes loud, sometimes playful, yet witty. Above all, it is ethereal, fragile, sensitive, and sensual. It’s unhurried and relaxed—contrary to the fast-paced, shallow stimulation often present in modern consciousness. “My music will be a soundtrack for the listener’s life, allowing them to live more slowly and deeply,” says Agnese.

“In my view, music is the most magical form of art because it can directly touch the soul, bypass the mind, and express what cannot always be said in words. That’s why every song on this album is like a small portal—a bridge between the visible and the invisible, between the human and the divine,” Agnese adds.

In her music, Agnese uses various instruments such as the kokle (Latvian zither), bansuri (Indian flute), overtone flute futujara, and different synthesized sound elements. She is inspired by ethnic chants from around the world, Latvian choral culture and polyphony, as well as nature itself—recorded through field sounds collected over several years. Her music blends natural soundscapes, acoustic wind instruments, and ethereal electronics.

“While making the album, I followed the motto: everything I need to create this album is already given to me. So when it seemed something was missing or unavailable, I found my own solution. As in life, it’s very important for me to stay true to my values and remain as authentic as possible in music. That’s why I used whatever was within reach during production, allowing the sound to form organically and genuinely,” Agnese shares.
