"This album is a personal story about myself, my life, the moments of downfall, and the strength to rise again. It serves as a reminder that anything is possible – if you want to reach the light, the choice is in your hands. Free will is the power that determines which path you take and what you do with your life. This is the message I remind myself of and have embedded in this album," Deniss reveals.
Deniss shares that the number "22" has frequently appeared in his life, becoming a symbol of luck and an angel number. "It marks my ten-year journey in rap, as many associate '22' with '10' – for example, when we look at the clock in the evening, 22:00 is essentially 10 PM. '22' consists of two identical digits, which reflect events in my life, my inner world, and my soul. The album’s visual design represents this dual nature – one '2' is light, while the other is dark, filled with temptations that run through the songs," Deniss explains.
The album’s origins trace back to Switzerland, where Deniss wrote the first song, "Šambalas vārti", during a retreat in the mountains – a symbolic composition about the journey to one's best self. One of the most important tracks is "Pagalma sapnis", which portrays Deniss’ path from a troubled past to success in the music industry, a journey he describes as "From Lestene to the Stars." The track features DJ PM’s scratches, giving it an authentic sound. Meanwhile, the final song on the album is deeply personal – a dedication to his grandfather, who recently passed away, serving as a reminder of life's fleeting moments.
For this album, Deniss collaborated with some of the most influential figures in the music scene who have inspired him. The album features artists such as Ozols, Kaizers, Sudrabu Sirds, Kreisais Krasts, and others. These musicians were Deniss’ idols during his early rap years, and now they are part of his debut album "22".
