Indie Pop-Rock Band “dzirnavnieki” Releases New Single “Aklā Sirds”

Following their debut album “Tā nav saule” released in January, the indie pop-rock band “dzirnavnieki” returns this autumn with a brand-new single “Aklā Sirds”. This single serves as the first glimpse of a new EP (mini-album) that the band plans to release in early 2026.

The song was created in close collaboration with producer and friend of the band, Armands Varslavāns.

“‘Aklā Sirds’ tells about those moments when, due to hurt or emotional experiences, the heart becomes blind and can no longer truly feel, love, and beat with the same force as before. In life situations, after heavy emotional setbacks, we often perceive things differently — sometimes with excessive caution, and at other times the opposite — which can lead us into new challenges. The song invites everyone to reflect on how to keep a calm mind and overcome this phenomenon,” the band members share.

The single was presented on Wednesday, September 24, at the vinyl store/café “Down Street”. It was an informal and intimate gathering with listeners, where “Aklā Sirds” was performed for the very first time. The evening flowed effortlessly, as the band played their favorite released tracks and also performed the new single live. An unexpected surprise for both the audience and the band came when singer Annika spontaneously joined in on the song “Būtu divatā”, giving the night a special touch.
