The album includes stories about love, carefree moments, life’s revelations, as well as attitudes and a slightly rebellious outlook on the world. The album was created in collaboration with two outstanding producers – Armands Varslavānsand Kaspars Ansons; the song “Manā plaukstā” also features Rūdolfs Ozols. “dzirnavnieki” draw inspiration from internationally acclaimed artists such as The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, and Michael Kiwanuka. The result is a vibrant, emotional, and energetic sound that blends elements of rock, pop, and contemporary alternative music.
Before releasing their debut album, “dzirnavnieki” had already introduced listeners to four songs – “Rutīna,” “Vējā,” “Luksofori,” and “Melnās atslēdziņas”, which gained positive reception and sparked interest in the full album. With the music video for “Melnās atslēdziņas”, “dzirnavnieki” blurred the lines between traditional and modern visual storytelling – rock music combined with folk dances, reminding us not to forget our roots, traditions, and the ancient wisdom of our ancestors.
The album’s title track, "Tā nav saule," is one of its most emotional songs, inviting listeners to return to the feelings experienced at the beginning of a new relationship. It is a song about the magic of falling in love and the uncertainty of where this journey may lead. Meanwhile, "Vēja zirgi" is one of the most dynamic tracks on the album, encouraging reflection on life’s many crossroads. It inspires listeners to follow their chosen path with confidence and courage.
