English jazz-pop singer Jamie Cullum is one of the most recognized singer-pianists, songwriters, and interpreters of various genre classics of this century. While often labeled as a jazz-pop singer due to his multifaceted and surprising body of work, he also holds the title of the best-selling British jazz artist. He’s also known as the host of a weekly jazz radio show on "BBC Radio 2."
Throughout his career, Jamie Cullum has recorded nine studio albums, released three compilations, one live album, and 24 singles. He has toured with the irresistible and legendary Amy Winehouse, along with her band, leaving a profound impact on his soul and inspiring his future work—eventually becoming close friends.

Jamie Cullum not only sings and plays the piano but also adds rhythm with a special amplified box (stomp box) placed under the piano, which he taps with his foot. When he steps away from the piano, allowing his band to take a break, he transforms into a one-man orchestra, performing songs like “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes without any instruments, using only his voice and beatboxing skills. At this point, it’s far from jazz—it's a playful display, with jackets, ties, cufflinks, and flowers flying around, and everyone having a blast.

While he has long crossed the boundaries of jazz standards in his music, Jamie Cullum remains loyal to the genre, hosting weekly jazz shows on "BBC Radio 2" since 2010. His 2014 album “Interlude,” featuring jazz cover versions, was inspired by his radio show, where he collaborated with Laura Mvula and Gregory Porter—both of whom credit the show as a springboard to great success. To celebrate the release of this album, his first fully dedicated to jazz, Cullum performed in some of the world’s most prestigious jazz clubs, including the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York and Ronnie Scott's in London.

His covers of songs from various genres reflect diverse sources of inspiration. Over time, he has been referred to as a jazz-pop singer, who takes listeners through different decades with each album, increasingly offering original compositions while maintaining the tradition of performing classic tracks. His repertoire spans greats from jazz and soul, rock and pop, hip-hop, and electronic music, including artists like The Killers, Ray Charles, Sufjan Stevens, Randy Newman, Kanye West, Massive Attack, Rihanna, Pussycat Dolls, Gnarls Barkley, Elton John, Justin Timberlake, Joy Division, and Lady Gaga, among others. All of this will be showcased on February 12 at the Palladium Riga concert hall.
