“In our first original composition, we wanted to express pride in our roots, which lie in Talsi and Kurzeme, as well as the energy of all these wonderful young singers,” says Markus. “Marts and Reinis have truly managed to capture the character of the Talsi Choir in both lyrics and melody, and I hope ‘Talsu Baltais’ brings light and joy to everyone—not only in Talsi but all across Latvia and beyond.”
As the choir leader notes, things haven’t ended with the show—the choir continues rehearsing, preparing a concert program, and has already received several invitations to perform in various Latvian cities. On May 27, they will also ceremoniously present a €10,000 donation to the Talsi Family and Children Development Center “Brīnumiņš.”
The Talsi White Choir rose to fame on the popular TV3 show “Koru kari”, which entertained viewers for 11 weeks and featured choirs from 10 different cities. Each choir, led by an experienced mentor, represented its hometown and competed for the judges’ scores and public support. In a tough but friendly competition, the Talsi White Choir led by Markus Riva emerged victorious, standing out for their thoughtful performances and heartfelt presence.
