“In 2024, the ‘Muzikālā Banka’ vaults have included nearly 170 of the most magnetic songs. We are, of course, delighted by works from well-known artists, but this year, new musicians have also created strong, resonant, and captivating songs. Among the entries are well-known performers and artists who have shone brightly in the popular music scene this season. The top 25 of this jubilee year's poll is musically colorful,” says Latvijas Radio 2 director Kaspars Mauriņš.

A professional and independent jury will also evaluate the “Muzikālā Banka 2024” finalist songs. The jury includes composer and musician Emīls Zilberts, opera singer Brigita Reisone, composer and musician Fēlikss Ķiģelis, conductor, vocal coach, and singer Una Stade, musician, folklorist, and producer Artūrs Uškāns, rapper and musician Zelma Jēgere, actor, singer, and composer Maksims Busels, poet Guntars Račs, musicologist and Latvijas Radio 3 “Klasika” program host Signe Lagzdiņa, and music critic and Latvijas Radio 5 host Mārtiņš Pabērzis.
Anyone can vote for their favorite composition once per day at www.muzikalabanka.lv until midnight on January 13. The combined results of audience and jury votes will determine the top 15 songs that will compete for the title of the most valuable song of the year at the grand finale concert show. The ultimate winner will be chosen solely through audience and viewer votes.
About “Muzikālā Banka”
“Muzikālā Banka” is an annual poll organized by Latvijas Radio 2, where listeners select the most valuable and beloved Latvian songs. The program airs three times a week on Latvijas Radio 2 – Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:05 PM and Saturdays at 12:00 PM. Throughout the year, weekly, monthly, and yearly top pop and rock songs are determined by listener votes at www.muzikalabanka.lv. The poll traditionally culminates in a grand award ceremony featuring the artists and composers of the highest-rated works.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of “Muzikālā Banka.” Last year’s winner was Dons with the song “Lauzto šķēpu karaļvalsts.” The second-place song was “Mēs turpināmies” by Sudden Lights, and third place went to Antra Stafecka and Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis with “Dzīparos.”
