Through the show “Balss maskā”, Nansija regained confidence in her musical abilities: “The victory and the support of the people around me encouraged me and gave me the motivation to finish my first song and start a new chapter in my career.”
Nansija began writing “#010126 CODA” five years ago, when she was at the lowest point in her life. “The song is like a soundscape of inner pain — it’s about those mental shadows that choke and alienate,” she explains. “It’s about existential wandering at a time when society’s stereotypes about a ‘happy life’ make you question your true self. Chasing an utopian reality is like a flickering illusion that promises salvation but leads to self-destruction. It’s about accepting the feelings we often hide — weakness, exhaustion, emptiness. The exhaustion from masks falling away, revealing fragility.

It’s the exhaustion from the endless illusion of running, from trying to reach something that sometimes doesn’t even have a name. The song is both a fall and a resurrection. A touch of destruction that ultimately brings you closer to yourself. And so we fight again. With ourselves. Over and over again…”
The song is complemented by a music video directed by Tīna Zariņa. “My collaboration with Nansija turned out to be fateful — during the making of this video, I was going through a very difficult period in my life,” Tīna reveals. “The song itself speaks about inner pain, overwhelming emotions, and the sense of being estranged from yourself. Our goal was to convey exactly this ache to the viewer.”
The video uses symbols that depict the splitting of the self. It features Nansija and her dark doubles who punish, humiliate, and torment her. Tīna says she wanted to show how difficult it is to deal with yourself when life pushes you into darkness, how foreign your own destructive thoughts can feel, and how hard it truly is to escape from yourself.
She admits that despite the dark tone of the song and video, the filming and post-production process was surprisingly bright and positive. The filming crew included people who are truly close to Nansija. “Throughout the process, it became very clear how much love and support these people put into Nansija’s art — it’s a rare opportunity to witness such sincerity and unity in the making of a music video,” Tīna adds.
Nansija Garkalne has hosted TV shows such as “Pielaiko profesiju”, “Virtuve bez kāposta”, “Runa:jam”, participated in the national show “Balss maskā”, where she triumphed, and took part in the documentary adventure series “Ekvadora pa ekvatoru.”
