Oskars Deigelis Releases a Thoughtful Song About Peace

Latvian singer and songwriter Oskars Deigelis is making a comeback with a new sound. His latest single, "Miers"(Peace), was created in collaboration with producer Jānis Narbuts. Deigelis composed the music together with his stage colleague Andris Strods, while the lyrics are based on a poem written by Deigelis himself.

"I've been performing with Andris for nearly 10 years, so I'm really happy that we’ve finally released a song we co-wrote. He mostly works in the alternative music scene, and that influence is undeniably present in this piece. I’ve also been working with Jānis in the studio for quite some time, creating songs not just for myself but for other performers as well. Therefore, it's only natural that the process of creating this song went smoothly and organically," Deigelis commented on his collaboration with colleagues.

When asked about the song’s message, the musician explained that the poem reflects on peace: "Each of us likely has a different understanding of what peace truly is. And although it seems that all we want is peace and a peaceful life, our actions and decisions often suggest the opposite. In other words, the song reflects these various coexisting states."

It's no secret that Oskars Deigelis has experienced significant changes not only in his creative life but also in his personal life. The singer recently got married, and he and his wife Kintija are expecting their first child in October.

It's worth noting that Deigelis' lyrics and, in some cases, melodies have been included in songs by other well-known Latvian performers, such as the band Otra Puse, Rassell & Sabīne Berezina, Normunds Rutulis, Lauris Reiniks, Dārta Stepanova, Alise Haijima, and others.
