The story behind “Jolie” centers on a woman who lives in her own imaginary world. She is not afraid to be ugly, frightening, or different. Palū emphasizes that beauty stereotypes do not scare her — one must be brave enough to be oneself and not fear society's expectations.
Musically, Palū’s latest piece “Jolie” is crafted in the indie dance genre — a style not widely represented in Latvia — but the artist embraces this exploration with curiosity, presenting listeners with a fresh and unfamiliar sound.
In the video, Palū collaborates with the dance group House of Berries and its choreographer Alīna Mihailova, continuing the artistic interaction that began at the Supernova song contest this February. It shows that the song exists not only in music but also in movement and emotion.
“These are not just dancers — they are true actresses! I’m grateful to the girls for their courage in embodying the character of Jolie. Together, we’ve created something so unique and different from what is typically accepted. I believe we managed to produce a video worthy of a short film — one I would gladly watch on the big screen,” says Palū, who also came up with the video’s concept.
Palū’s debut EP is expected at the end of summer. It will bring together genre-diverse yet equally experimental musical works.
