"The song speaks about the shared life of two people—not only the beautiful moments and butterflies in the stomach but also those times when the butterflies sting so much that the pain becomes almost physically unbearable. We always expect the other person to bring us peace and harmony, but love can hurt us and traumatize us so deeply that sometimes it feels better to end the relationship. However, when we are left alone and learn to be on our own again, we often realize that this love was beautiful, empowering, and inspiring. I want us all to remember during painful moments that by going through hardships, learning from our experiences, and from each other, we can make love even stronger, deeper, and give each other so much more. Love knows how to bite too!" says Patrisha.
The music and lyrics of "Love Bites" were written by Patrisha herself, Kim Wennerstrom, and Duncan Townsend, with the song being produced by Kim W. The single was written last summer when Patrisha traveled to Berlin to work with producer Kim Wennerstrom, with whom she had previously collaborated on songs such as "Patrisha Was Here," "Let It Hurt," and others.
"It has always been easy to collaborate with Kim—we think alike, and our opinions on how the song should sound and the message it should convey match. When we started writing a new song in Berlin a year ago, our goal was to create something that would be relatable and understandable to everyone in both its story and emotions. During the creation of 'Love Bites,' we were joined by songwriter and musician from the UK, Duncan Townsend. The collaboration between the three of us was very successful and smooth, and we plan to continue working together in the future," Patrisha shares.
A music video for "Love Bites" has also been produced, directed by Reinis Ūbelis and his team.
The new single is available on all major music streaming platforms and can be heard on Latvian radio stations starting from September 9.
