The song’s sound is inspired by synthpop and alternative pop, as well as by the changes she has observed in people, her surroundings, and her own life. “I often see songwriting as therapy – a way to organize my thoughts and express emotions,” she adds.
PAULA also took part in the production process – the demo for “Dejot vien” was recorded in her home studio and later finalized by Kristaps Ērglis and Jēkabs Ludvigs Kalmanis. “It was a great collaboration; they immediately understood the sound and direction I was going for. I see them as truly talented and innovative, and I learned a lot from them as an aspiring producer,” says PAULA.
“Every day I try to remind myself and others that challenges make us stronger, and problems should be seen as opportunities. Just like after a good workout, we need to rest and recover – it’s the same with emotions,” she explains.
The lyric “Es būšu tava rēta, kura ļoti lēni dzīst” (“I’ll be your scar that heals very slowly”) was inspired by the musical “Spring Awakening,” in which PAULA performed years ago. “This phrase still resonates with me – it symbolizes emotional scars and how they don’t disappear immediately, but we must learn to live with them. Music and dance help transform those emotions into energy – that’s my way of letting go and moving forward,” she adds.
