"Prāta Vētra" Releases a New Song and Music Video

The band Prāta Vētra (Brainstorm) has released a new song, Pirmajā dienā (On the First Day), which is the first single from their upcoming studio album, set to be released in April. Along with the single, a stunning and star-filled music video has also premiered.

Pirmajā dienā tells a breathtaking story about a fateful encounter written in the stars—an inescapable meeting, even after days of traveling through galaxies. The song was created during the band's creative sessions in Barcelona and recorded in a Stockholm studio under the guidance of producer Povel Olsson. The track also features contributions from Swedish band The Royal Concept's guitarist, David Larson, who previously collaborated with Prāta Vētra on their album Par to zēnu, kas sit skārda bungas (About the Boy Who Plays the Tin Drum).

The video for Pirmajā dienā was directed by the band's drummer, Kaspars Roga, who came up with the idea spontaneously: "Thanks to the muses! I was sitting in a sunny café in Barcelona when the idea just came to me—why not go to space? I wrote it all down, showed it to my friends, and we realized—this is it, we have to film it," Kaspars shares. The video was filmed in a Riga studio and produced by the film naked team. The artistic direction was led by Lielais Kristaps award-winning artist Laura Dišlere, with visual designs by the talented Līva Drešere, while the 3D animations were created by animator Kaspars Murelis.

"We spent two days filming in the studio, where we had a real spaceship built. The props team shook and rocked it vigorously as we raced through galaxies. It turns out we are all great actors—surrounded by blue screens, we had to imagine everything, from our rivals Bermudu Divstūris' aircraft to Keika’s spaceship lot. One scene, in particular, was a favorite among the crew—where Andris Keišs and his four-legged friend, a dog named Šašliks, sell a spaceship to intergalactic travelers," laughs Kaspars Roga.

This summer, Prāta Vētra will embark on a concert tour across Latvia, performing in five cities:
