The idea for “RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW)” matured over a longer period, observing the role similar professional meetings and industry platforms play in other countries, where they have long served as a foundation for industry development and export promotion.”
“RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW)” will start with the already well-known songwriting camp “RIGaLIVE” in the music sector both in Latvia and Europe. It is scheduled to take place from November 2 to 4.
During the “RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW)” industry conference on November 5–6, there will be panel discussions on relevant sector topics, practical masterclasses, and interviews with industry stars. The first confirmed international conference participants are Lisa Nasta, United Kingdom – music curator and producer for the legendary Glastonbury Festival’s “Green Futures Field”; Mark Bona, Hungary – music curator of one of Europe’s largest music and arts festivals “Sziget”; Robert Meijerink, Netherlands – head of conference and festival programming for Europe’s leading music industry conference-festival “Eurosonic Noorderslag”; Franz Hergovich, Austria – representative from the “Waves Vienna” conference-festival and the Austrian Music Export office; Toomas Olljum, Estonia – head of “Made in Baltics” and an experienced representative of the Estonian music industry; Guillaume Warmerdam, Netherlands, co-founder of music distribution and promotion companies “LAB Music” and “MakeWaves.fm” as well as the record label “Vokall Records”; Ramūnas Zilnys, Lithuania – editor-in-chief of popular music and host at LRT (Lithuanian Radio and Television); Sebastian Król, Germany – representative of the record label “Backseat PR”, the platform “Fanklub” and “Norden Festival”; Christoph Hallerberg, Germany – from the musician training program “Backseat Coaching” and Maarten Leopold, Netherlands – an experienced music industry lawyer. Topics for discussions and masterclasses, as well as additional speakers, will be announced soon.
Meanwhile, on November 5 and 6, the music festival and showcases of emerging music artists and bands will present more than 40 performers from Latvia, the Baltics, Europe, and the world, representing various music genres. The festival will feature already recognized names, while new artists and bands for the showcases will be selected by “RIGA MUSIC WEEK (RMW)” music curators from applications. In parallel, a music technology exhibition will take place, introducing music startups, technologies, and digital solutions impacting the music and creative industries.

Last Saturday, during Estonia’s “Tallinn Music Week (TMW)”, the upcoming autumn event was presented for the first time to international sector professionals. The next promotional event for “Riga Music Week (RMW)” is planned in Warsaw, as part of “Music Week Poland” from June 26–29.
