"The Rollkeys" release a youthful blues rock single with an ironic message

The new Latvian blues band The Rollkeys has released a new single, Pretty Little Lady — an energetic and freedom-craving blues rock track. With a smile, it tells the story of classic teenage crushes and the relationship hurdles that almost everyone has faced.

The songwriters — Rūdolfs Āboltiņš, Rūdolfs Roļskijs, and Tomass Saulietis — hide the story behind a heartfelt rock ’n’ roll curtain. It portrays a high school boy and his “pretty lady,” whose meeting is complicated by her strict father. With light irony and innocent lyrics, the song reflects a universal desire: simply to spend time with someone special. In short, Pretty Little Lady is a song for everyone who has ever just wanted to be together — but life, with its own humor, made them fight a little for it.

Pretty Little Lady was born during the band’s creative retreat in a sauna called Krogzemnieki in the Aloja parish, where the musicians improvised freely, drawing inspiration from the legendary Jimi Hendrix and the freedom of blues rock.

The song was recorded and produced by Edgars Roļskijs at ROL Recording Studio, while the visual design was created by Herta Balode.

The Rollkeys is a trio of young bluesmen who came together during open music nights at “Blues House.” The band has already carved out a name for themselves at Fontaine Palace, bars in Riga, and other venues. On June 7, they performed for the second time at the R&B Blues Festival in Ropaži, where they shared the stage with singer Kristīne Megija Žvagiņa, marking their debut single release with a program titled The Rollkeys & The Lady.
