Band "Tante Gaida" Releases Single and Music Video "Kad gribēs, tad sapratīs"

As winter bids farewell, the musical group Tante Gaida releases an emotionally rich composition accompanied by a music video. The song "Kad gribēs, tad sapratīs" serves as the second teaser from the band's upcoming debut album, set to reach listeners this spring.

The single is a fusion of melody and poetry, echoing the rebellious spirit of youth. Lyricist Rebeka Rēķe shares the song’s message: "Kad gribēs, tad sapratīs" is about the internal struggle between hope and disappointment.

The song reveals how blind hope and emotional pain can consume the mind and heart, creating an illusion of waiting for something that may never come. This hope becomes a refuge from loneliness, but from an outside perspective, one must succumb to sorrow and emotionally sink to protect another from losing hope.

The song’s production, mixing, and mastering were handled by Kārlis Grīnbergs. A visual story has also been created— a music video that captures the song’s atmosphere through various audiovisual techniques. The video’s cinematographer is Aivars Šaicāns, and its director is Līva Klepere. Director Līva describes the video: “We wanted to create a visual experience that reflects the song’s bittersweet nature.”

The song’s theme of being stuck in one place, unable to break free from self-imposed imprisonment while hoping for change, resonates perfectly with the ghostly figures in the video—trapped in the shadows of their lives, doomed to endure an endless cycle of repetition. By surrendering to sorrow, embracing sadness, and even finding comfort in it, we risk becoming ghosts in our own lives—forced to watch from the sidelines as everything continues without us.

The band Tante Gaida consists of five talented musicians—Lote Voiska, Dāvids Kalniņš, Elizabete Liepa, Rebeka Rēķe, and Kārlis Grīnbergs—who have already made their mark on various stages in Latvia. Their music is characterized by vibrant melodies combined with original poetry, reflecting both youthful and "aunt-like" perspectives on the modern world. The band's compositions fit equally well in melancholic moods and bohemian festivities.
