Triānas Parks Invites You to Visit the “Island of Lonely Poets”

The band Triānas Parks has released their new album, Island of Lonely Poets, along with the second single, Labyrinth. This album marks a new phase in the band's creative journey, deepening their exploration of collective cultural spaces with a strong emphasis on lyrics and sound design.

In this album, Agnese not only serves as the songwriter and performer but also makes her debut as a producer, giving the work a new, unheard dimension. This creative approach represents a significant milestone in Agnese's career and expands her artistic vision. Agnese explains, “The written word is at the heart of this process, making the album a conceptual piece with an interdisciplinary nature, woven together by an audio tale.”

Island of Lonely Poets is an anthropological exploration of loneliness and its manifestations, symbolized by the figure of the poet—a sensitive, fragile, and deeply empathetic member of society who views the world through a unique lens. This poet represents the “soul” of each individual, whose poetic experience is often misunderstood and unfamiliar to others. The theme of the servant is also examined, inspired by the works of Latvian artist Blumbergs. The album explores music as an art form with aesthetic, spiritual, and entertaining dimensions. This is especially relevant today, as AI-generated “artworks” increasingly occupy our daily lives, opening up a broader discussion about art’s functionality and role in society.

Agnese notes, “In this album, I’m diving into the past. Its inspirations come from the giants of Latvian literature and writing. We did a special photoshoot at the E. Smiļģis Museum, and I read a lot of J. Jaunsudrabiņš’ works. I’m also inspired by young people eager to enter the industry—one of the album's producers, 17-year-old Sabīne Mustermane, has already released her debut album and is currently studying jazz vocals at the Ventspils Music School. An important source of inspiration was my June trip to Japan, where I got to know the people and their culture. The poet is an essential element of society, trying to understand the world and pass that message on to others,” Agnese explains. She hopes to delve into our cultural wealth and draw ideas for a future that now seems so uncertain and turbulent.

The album was largely created at Zvaigznājs, a new hybrid studio in Riga that serves as a music and education platform. Its goal is to create a space where anyone can learn digital music technology and realize not only audio but also video projects. The new industry standard is hybrid, and it presents challenges for every young “poet.” The album's sound is eclectic and experimental. “I had the opportunity to explore and expand musical boundaries without losing touch with pop music, which has always been important to me,” says Agnese.

Agnese shares that her main focus right now is education. She works as a mentor at Zvaigznājs and is making significant changes to the Latvian education system to introduce digital technology into music classrooms. In this new role, her personal scope has greatly expanded, and the album serves as a manifestation of these various ideas. For Agnese, releasing an album is a milestone in every artist’s life, and she aims to inspire girls to acquire digital skills so they can independently realize their creative ideas. She emphasizes that in this digital age, the ability to release one’s own album is more accessible than ever.

Continuing their tradition, Triānas Parks will perform 16 concerts in churches across Latvia in December, with two special concerts next year featuring songs from the new album. More information is available on their website www.trianasparks.lv.
