The Legend

Turaida Rose tells the 17th-century story of Maija, whose bravery and faithfulness made her an eternal Latvian symbol. She fell in love with a gardener named Viktors, but a tragic betrayal forced her to choose death over breaking her devotion.

An international vision

The performance is in English, allowing audiences worldwide to discover this part of Latvia’s cultural heritage. After its final show in Latvia, the rock opera will head to stages across Europe and beyond.

Music, dance, and visuals

A symphonic rock orchestra led by conductor Guntars Bernāts, enriched with exotic instruments (pan flute, ukulele) and featuring the brilliant guitarist Andrejs Meļņikovs.
Choreography is created by Ukrainian dancers under Oleksandr Leshchenko, bringing energy and stunning visuals.
The visual world is designed by Māra Kalve and her Latvian art studio team, using massive LED screens to bring Turaida Castle and Gūtmanis Cave to life.
